Background : ARCADE RSDH is a huge collaborative project which, focuses on research capacity building in Asia. The study objective is to learn the collaboration process of the project. It also highlights the challenges and salient feature of the collaboration.

Methodology : Present cross sectional, qualitative study has been conducted, by obtaining primary and secondary data. The tool for primary data collection was semi structured topic guide. An online interview was conducted with all the PIs of the collaborating institutes. Secondary data was collected with help of record review and web search. The primary data analysis was done using thematic framework analysis

Findings : Previous work experience with collaborating institutes was the main criteria behind the collaboration. The consortium has small and big partners. The structure of the consortium somehow, effects the collaboration. Communication is such collaborative project is usually through online activities. Limited fund was found as one of the challenges for small partners.

Recommendations : A project with huge collaboration certainly needs familiarity among the partners but, at the same time legal structure of collaborating institute should be kept in mind while choosing partners. Structure of the consortium also influences the flow of information among the partners to a great extent, thus it should be planned very carefully and special attention shall be paid to the small partners.

Health research capacity building is one of the latest thing, which researchers advocate for strengthening the health system of LMICs. Taking in account the poor socioeconomic conditions and prevailing inequities in the area of health care in LMIC, many developed countries offer collaboration to these countries. Studies have shown a positive impact of such collaboration on research capacity strengthening. Such collaboration needs to be sustained for long to bring fruitful results. A healthy partnership among the collaborators is one of the most important factors to sustain the collaboration.
