COVID-19 Prevention Measures

At the end of the programme participant should be able to:

  • Healthy persons need not wear mask. Mask should be worn by following- persons having symptoms (like fever, cough, difficulty in breathing persons), by those involved in care of Covid-19 case, persons visiting health facility for consultation. ( video on correct technique for wearing mask can be accessed from https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public/when-and-how-to-use-masks")
  • One should avoid touching his/her mouth, nose or eyes as it can lead to acquiring Covid-19 infection
  • Cover your nose and mouth with handkerchief/tissue while sneezing and coughing. Wash your hands with soap and water after coughing or sneezing. Throw used tissues into closed bins immediately after use
  • Practice frequent hand washing. Wash hands with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand rub. Wash hands even if they are visibly clean.( video on correct technique for wearing mask can be accessed from-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PmVJQUCm4E )
  • Avoid participating in large gatherings and visiting crowded places like malls, markets, restaurants
  • Maintain distance of 1 meter (3 feet) between yourself and anybody who is sneezing or coughing as it can lead to acquiring Covid-19 infection
  • Avoid non-essential travel. One should keep track of latest government advisories related to travel. (Government advisories related to travel are available from-https://www.mohfw.gov.in/ )
  • If you have signs/symptoms like fever, difficult breathing and cough, please contact your nearest health facility. Wear mask properly while going to health facility for consultation.
